Reasons why Modular Homes are Perfect Choices for the NJ Shore

Planning a home on the beach requires you to carefully consider a number of things that wouldn’t ordinarily be thought of otherwise. If you’re planning a coastal home, there are plenty of reasons to consider a modular one. Modular homes on the NJ shore have some definite advantages over traditional stick-built homes that make them an obvious choice for anyone desiring a home on the beach.

Wind Resistant

Many people are surprised to know that modular homes are actually more wind resistant than conventional homes. The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) actually requires them to conform to the same regional standards as a traditional stick-built home. As such, you can take comfort in knowing that your modular home is designed to withstand hurricane winds as good as-if not better than-a home built on site.

There is some evidence that suggests a modular home may actually be safer during high winds. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has consistently touted the safety of modular homes ever since Hurricane Andrew pummeled the Gulf States back in 1992. Modular homes also seemed to fare much better than stick-built houses during the onslaught of Hurricane Sandy in 2012.

One reason why modular homes may be more wind resistant is the fact that they contain as much as 30% more building materials than conventional houses. Additional building material is needed to ensure they remain intact while they are being transported, and help provide stability to the home once it is in place.

Versatility

Not only are modular homes very durable, but they also contain a wide array of features that make living along the coast ideal. For example, homes may contain covered front porches that are perfect for enjoying an ocean breeze on. They may also contain oversized windows, fireplaces, or deluxe kitchens, and most models also have floor plans that can easily be customized to suit your individual needs. As such, you can easily add an attached garage or “mother-in-law suite” to make living in your shorefront home more enjoyable.

Two-story homes are very popular along the beach because they allow people to enjoy a bigger view of the ocean. Some of our two-story models also contain walkout balconies, which are perfect for enjoying a sunset over the ocean. If you regularly entertain overnight visitors, a split staircase leading to a guest bedroom will provide everyone sleeping on the second floor with a bit more privacy.

Our modular homes are even versatile enough to be placed on any lot. Some models are best suited for narrow lots, so you can enjoy a modular home, even if you only have a limited amount of space to work in.

Low Maintenance

If you’ve never had a home on the beach before, you may be surprised at the amount of maintenance a coastal home requires. Fortunately, modular homes require very little maintenance when compared to other homes, so you’ll be able to spend more time enjoying your surroundings. We offer a variety of siding options that are both durable and resistant to damage from sun, salt and wind. If you’re concerned about sand being tracked through your home, we have numerous flooring choices that will make keeping the inside of your new home a breeze as well.
