Open Concept

New Modular Home designs are combining the kitchen and living areas to allow for entertaining guests as well as function. Buyers like the open concept layout configuration because it is perfect for entertaining guests and for family togetherness.

Traditional Style

In terms of style, modular home buyers are choosing features that highlight a traditional style. The traditional styles of today features little ornamentation, simple rooflines, symmetrically spaced windows and a feel that is sophisticated yet comfortable.

Large Kitchens

With the modular home open concept layout, the kitchen will be the focal point of the home.  Buyers today are designing more white kitchens with white-on-white selections (countertops, backsplashes, etc.).  The white colors go with any style and accent well with dark or grey accents.  Kitchen sizes have also increased in sizes with features including double wall ovens, wet bars and large center islands.  The large center islands lend themselves well for food preparation, cooking, and offer family and friends a place to sit.

Stand-Alone Showers and Bathtubs

Modular home designs today are eliminating the shower/tub combinations and now designing stand-alone units for both bath and shower.  Design element like large glass doors, tiled shower walls and floors are incorporated for a spa-like retreat.

Large closets

Buyers today are looking for plenty of closet space.  Modular home designs today often include his and hers closets in the master bedroom, center hall coat closets and mud rooms for dedicated storage areas. 

Outdoor Living

Many modular home custom designs include thought and designs that include outdoor living.  Buyers today are investing in outdoor living including, bar areas, pools, decks and areas for play.

Technology

Modular home designs today include considerations regarding smart home technology.  Considerations in pre-installed Ethernet wiring, smart lighting, connected kitchen technology, smart home security.  Considerations for outlet placement is beneficial to cover during design then retrofitting after construction.
